ITV Names Archie Norman As Chairman
By Sarah Turner
MarketWatch Pulse
LONDON -- Commercial television broadcaster ITV said Wednesday that Archie Norman has been appointed chairman. He will take up the role in January 2010, at which time Michael Grade, executive chairman, will stand down from the company and John Cresswell will become interim chief executive. "There are few opportunities that would have tempted me back into the public company arena, but ITV is definitely one of them," said Norman. He has served for eight years as a Member of Parliament, including Chief Executive of the Conservative Party. In 1991, he was appointed CEO of ASDA and worked at the supermarket group for eight years before it was sold to Wal-Mart.
