Cablevision Profit More Than Triples

CHICAGO -- Cablevision Systems Corp. said Tuesday that third-quarter profit more than tripled on improved results at its cable television systems and networks. The company said net income was $98.9 million, or 33 cents a share, compared with a profit of $30.9 million, or 10 cents a share, in the same quarter a year ago. Revenue rose to $1.84 billion from $1.75 billion. Analysts were expecting a profit of 26 cents a share on sales of $1.82 billion, according to a poll taken by Thomson Reuters.
