NEW YORK -- Employment in Canada decreased by 43,000 in October, following two months of moderate growth, Statistics Canada said on Friday. The unemployment rate rose to 8.6% from 8.4%. The drop in payrolls was mostly attributable to part-time employees being cut, the government agency said. Full-time employment, which had fallen at a faster rate in the past year, increased slightly.
