Alliant Techsystems Posts Quarterly Profit Gain

SAN FRANCISCO -- Alliant Techsystems Inc. said Wednesday its fiscal second-quarter net income rose to $72.6 million, or $2.19 a share, from $61.5 million, or $1.77 a share in the same period last year. The Minneapolis-based maker of weapons and rocket systems said revenue for the period ended in October rose 11% to $1.2 billion. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters had estimated that Alliant Techsystems would post earnings of $2.06 a share, and $1.2 billion in revenue for the quarter.
