    Merck Receives Recommendation for Fertility Drug

      A European advisory committee has recommended approval for Merck & Co.'s (MRK) new fertility drug Elonva.

      The Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use of the European Medicines Agency made the recommendation, which will be considered by the European Commission when it determines if the treatment will be approved.  

      If approved the treatment would be sold in the European Union.

      Shares of Merck rose 3% in Friday trading.
