InterMune Shares Fall on Drug Study
By Darryl R. Isherwood
FOXBusiness
InterMune Inc. (ITMN), currently conducting a study of its hepatitis C drug, said it would discontinue studying a high level dose amid fears of liver damage.
The biotech firm said an independent monitoring committee recommended the company discontinue testing its 900 milligram dose in a mid-stage study after three patients had elevated levels of a liver enzyme.
Analysts are looking at study data to see if the safety issue is present in two lower doses.
The announcement sent the shares down 17% Tuesday to $11.81.
