By Robert Daniel
MarketWatch Pulse
TEL AVIV -- Basilea Pharmaceutica Ltd., the Basel drugmaker, said on Wednesday that Health Canada cleared the company to market Toctino, generically alitretinoin, to treat adults with severe chronic hand eczema whose condition hadn't responded to topical corticosteroids. Basilea is marketing the drug in Denmark, Germany and the UK and recently launched it in France. The drug has marketing clearance in a number of other European countries and has been recommended for approval in Italy, Basilea said. Eczema is a skin inflammation that causes sometimes severe itching, blisters, thickened and cracked skin, and more, the Mayo Clinic Website explains.
