Abbott Laboratories Reports Positive Results on Niaspan
FOXBusiness
Abbott Laboratories (ABT) announced on Monday positive results of cholesterol drug Niaspan. The company said that patients who used Niaspan along with a statin had improvement in clogged arteries after 8 to 14 months.
The Arbiter 6 study, which was funded by Abbot, was conducted on 208 patients. Those patients also reported fewer major cardiac events, like heart attacks. The patients tested were at high risk for heart attack and were already taking statins to lower cholesterol.
