TD Ameritrade Profit Slips, Beats Estimate

NEW YORK -- TD Ameritrade Holding Corp. said Tuesday its profit fell in the third quarter to $156.7 million, or 26 cents a share, from $172 million, or 29 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Net revenues were $657.9 million, up 1.3%. Analysts surveyed by FactSet Research estimated, on average, earnings of 23 cents a share on sales of $634.2 million. The Omaha, Neb.-based online brokerage firm also released guidance for its 2010 fiscal year, saying it expects to earn between $1.10 and $1.40 a share.
