Stocks In Focus For Tuesday

SAN FRANCISCO -- Among the shares expected to see active trade in Tuesday's session are Kraft, MasterCard and Viacom.
Kraft Foods (KFT) is expected to report third-quarter earnings of 48 cents a share, according to a consensus survey by FactSet Research.
MasterCard Inc. (MA) is projected to post earnings of $2.94 a share in the third quarter, according to a FactSet survey.
Viacom (VIA) is likely to report third-quarter earnings of 56 cents a share, according to analysts polled by FactSet.
Diebold (DBD) is forecast to post earnings of 41 cents a share in the third quarter, according to analysts surveyed by FactSet.
Analysts predicted Emerson Electric (EMR) to report earnings of 60 cents a share in the fourth quarter, according to FactSet.
AmeriSourceBergen (ABC) is expected to report fourth-quarter earnings of 40 cents a share, according to analysts polled by FactSet.
IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) is projected to post earnings of $1.15 a share in the third quarter, according to a consensus survey by FactSet.
Marvel Entertainment Inc. (MVL) is likely to post earnings of 23 cents a share in the third quarter, according to a FactSet survey.
Analysts estimated Medco Health Solutions (MHS) to report third-quarter earnings of 71 cents a share.
Polo Ralph Lauren (RL) is expected to post earnings of $1.32 in the second quarter, according to FactSet.
Con-Way (CNW) is forecast to report third-quarter earnings of 50 cents a share, according to a FactSet survey.
Digital River (DRIV) is likely to report earnings of 41 cents a share in the third quarter, according to analysts polled by FactSet.
Hartford Financial Services (HIG) is projected to post earnings of $1.11 a share in the third quarter, according to analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters.
Analysts predicted Unum Group (UNM) to report third-quarter earnings of 64 cents a share, according to FactSet.
Pitney Bowes (PBI) is likely to post earnings of 57 cents a share in the third quarter, according to a FactSet survey.
Cablevision Systems Corp. (CVC) is expected to report earnings of 25 cents a share in the third quarter, according to a survey by FactSet.
Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) is likely to post earnings of 57 cents a share in the first quarter, according to a FactSet poll.
Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) is projected to post earnings of 59 cents a share in the third quarter, according to a consensus survey by FactSet.
Rockwell Collins (COL) is seen to report fourth-quarter earnings of 88 cents a share, according to analysts surveyed by FactSet.
Analysts see HCP (HCP) posting earnings of 23 cents a share in the third quarter, according to FactSet.
Frontier Communications Corp. (FTR) is likely to report third-quarter earnings of 15 cents a share, according to a FactSet poll.
Rowan Cos. (RDC) is expected to post third-quarter earnings of 52 cents a share, according to FactSet.
Expeditors International (EXPD) is forecast to post earnings of 29 cents a share in the third quarter, according to analysts polled by FactSet.
Analysts estimate Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTSH) to report third-quarter earnings of 41 cents a share, according to FactSet.
In Europe, BMW (BMW) and UBS (UBS) are slated to release third-quarter results.
After Monday's closing bell, Stanley Works (SWK) and Black & Decker Corp. (BDK) announced that they will merge in an all-stock deal valued at $4.5 billion. Stanley will own 50.5% of the newly created company and Stanley Chairman and CEO John Lundgren will take over as CEO. Nolan Archibald, CEO of Black & Decker for 24 years, will become executive chairman for three years.

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (APC) reported its third-quarter net income fell to $200 million, or 40 cents a share, from $2.16 billion, or $4.58 a share, a year ago. Excluding one-time items, the company posted a loss of $51 million, or 11 cents a share. Revenue fell to $2.74 billion from $6.15 billion.
Axis Capital Holdings (AXS) reported a third-quarter net loss available to common shareholders of $96 million, or 70 cents a share, versus a net loss of $249 million, or $1.79 per common share, for the third quarter of 2008. Operating income, which excludes net realized investment gains and losses, was $152 million, or $1 a share, in the latest period, Axis said.
Avis Budget Group Inc. (CAR) said it swung to third-quarter profit of $57 million, or 54 cents a share, from a loss of $1.01 billion, or $9.91 a share, in the year-ago period. Excluding one-time items, the company said it would have reported earnings of 65 cents a share.
Chesapeake Energy Corp. (CHK) reported its third-quarter net income fell to $186 million, or 30 cents a share, from $3.29 billion, or $5.62 a share, a year earlier. Excluding one-time items, the company earned $440 million, or 70 cents a share, in the latest quarter, down from $495 million, or 87 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue fell to $1.81 billion from $7.49 billion.
Diebold Inc. (DBD) named Bradley Richardson executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective Nov. 23. Richardson was previously a CFO at Modine Manufacturing Co., an air conditioning manufacturer.
Ford Motor Co. (F) will be raising about $3 billion in fresh funds as part of its effort to improve its balance sheet. The steps include securing $2 billion through issuance of senior convertible notes and $1 billion through sales of common shares to "certain broker/dealers" in private placements. The automaker is also seeking to extend the maturity of its revolving credit facility to 2013 from 2011.
Hanover Insurance Group (THG) swung to a third-quarter profit of $49.7 million, or 97 cents a share. In the year-earlier period, Hanover lost $61.8 million due to heavy investment losses and two hurricanes. The company said its net premiums written rose 5.7% to $688.8 million for the quarter.
Principal Financial (PFG) reported its third-quarter net income available to common shareholders rose to $184.7 million, or 57 cents a share, from $90.1 million, or 35 cents a share. Operating earnings, which exclude net realized investment gains and losses, were $238.7 million, or 74 cents a share.
Republic Services (RSG) reported a third-quarter profit of $120.5 million, or 32 cents a share, compared with $88.7 million, or 48 cents a share, a year ago. Excluding various one-time items, the company said earnings would have come in at $149.3 million, or 39 cents a share. Revenue rose to $2.07 billion from $834 million last year.
Synchronoss Technologies Inc. (SNCR) said earnings for the third quarter jumped 34% thanks to an increase in business from wireless carriers and cable providers. Synchronoss said net income was $3.1 million, or 10 cents a share, compared to net income of $2.3 million, or 7 cents a share, for the same period last year. Revenue grew 26% to $33.1 million.
