Two Former Computer Programmers For Madoff Charged

SAN FRANCISCO -- Jerome O'Hara and George Perez, former computer programmers for Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, were arrested Friday morning by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, the Department of Justice said. The two are charged with conspiracy and falsifying books and records on behalf of Bernard Madoff who has been jailed for defrauding clients of billions of dollars. "They primarily were responsible for developing and maintaining computer programs that supported the operation of the BLMIS IA business. Many of those programs were run on an IBM server known within BLMIS as "House 17," the Justice Department said.
