Aon Profit Edges Up 3%

LONDON -- Insurance broker Aon Corp. said Friday that its third-quarter net profit rose 3% to $120 million, or 41 cents a share, from $117 million, or 40 cents a share, a year earlier. Total revenue in the quarter slipped 2% to $1.81 billion. Adjusted earnings per share fell to 65 cents from 69 cents as a strengthening margin in its brokerage business was offset by a 69% drop in total investment income. Analysts polled by FactSet had expected earnings of 65 cents a share on revenue of $1.86 billion.
