DirecTV Profit Grows As Subscribers Increase

CHICAGO -- DirecTV Group , the largest U.S. satellite television provider, said Thursday that its third-quarter profit rose moderately as it gained more subscribers. Net income was $366 million, or 37 cents a share, compared with a profit of $363 million, or 33 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Revenue rose to $5.47 billion from $4.98 billion. Analysts were expecting the company to earn 39 cents a share on sales of $5.43 billion, according to a poll by FactSet Research.
