FedEx Forecasting Boost in Holiday Shipping
By Darryl R. Isherwood
FOXBusiness
Santa Claus will not be the only one delivering millions of packages this holiday season.
Shipping giant FedEx Corp. (FDX) said Tuesday it expects to ship more than 13 million packages on Dec. 14, its busiest day of the year. On an average day, the company ships about half that number.
For the week, the company said it expects to move more than 50 million packages.
The forecast represents an increase of more than 8% over the 12 million packages shipped on its busiest day in 2008, a good sign for an economy that is recovering from the worst recession in decades.
FedEx shares rose 1.1% to $82.13 on Tuesday.
