Early-Market Movers: Vascular Solutions Goldman Sachs

    Stock futures were mixed to mostly flat after Dow component Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) posted mixed third-quarter results.

    Here are some of the early-market movers for Tuesday.

    Vascular Solutions Inc (VASC)

    Shares of the medical-device company jumped 21.8% in pre-market trading after announcing it received U.S. regulatory approval for its Guardian Hemostasis valve blood clotting device.

    Vanda Pharmaceuticals Inc (VNDA)

    Shares gained 17.4% in Tuesday’s pre-market trading after announcing a $200 million deal with Novartis for rights to sell its new schizophrenia drug Fanapt after the bell Monday.

    China Information Security Technology, Inc. (CPBY)

    The information services company announced its third quarter newly-signed contracts showed a 14.3% increase from the previous quarter at approximately US$30.05 million. Shares gained 10.6% in pre-market trading.

    CIT Group Inc. (CIT)

    Shares were down 19% in pre-market trading after sources indicated that there was little interest from bondholders on the company’s debt exchange offer.  The company also initiated a CEO transition as CEO Jeffrey Peek plans to retire at the end of the year.

    Synaptics Inc. (SYNA)

    Synamptic shares were down 5.8% after analysts at Jeffries cut their rating to “underperform” from “hold.”

    Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS)

    Shares of Goldman were down 1.6% in pre-market trading after analyst Meredith Whitney downgraded the stock to "neutral" from "buy" ahead of Thursday’s quarterly earnings release.
