CHINA NPC: Wen: Won't Seek Hegemony Even If China Develops Further

BEIJING -(Dow Jones)- China Premier Wen Jiabao on Sunday restated China's goal for a peaceful rise, saying it won't seek global hegemony even if its economy develops further.
Wen said China remains at an early stage of development, adding its development won't hurt other countries. China still needs more than a hundred years to modernize itself, he said.
Wen made his remarks at a news conference following the end of China's 10-day session of the National People's Congress, China's legislature.
