Cavuto: California Will Get Over It; Swine Flu Might Not

California could be about to go under. Swine flu could be about to take off.

    What should worry you more?

    Here’s the deal.

I know California’s on the brink, and everyone’s reporting it. But our nation’s health could be as well, and it seems no one’s reporting it.

California can’t pay its bills. And trust me, it has a lot of bills. Billions of dollars worth of ‘em.

So, by comparison, 5,000 confirmed cases of swine flu here in the U.S. seems small.

    Six deaths. Tragic, but tiny.

But something tells me California will get over this hump. I’m not sure about the swine-flu thing.

Not when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report more than 100,000 people are infected with the virus.

And not when the World Health Organization is poised to declare a full-blown pandemic of this virus.

    Swine flu is mutating.

In 40 countries now, killing 74 now. Relatively small numbers now.

But stubborn ones, and odd ones, since they are affecting not just your typical disease victims.

    Not just old and feeble.

But more often, young and strong. Until they meet this.

    Then, this.

A disease we can’t seem to quantify, let along fight.

That’s why the biz geek here isn’t too distressed by California biz issues here, or bank issues here, or almost anything money here.

No, the biz geek here is focused on life and how increasingly tenuous it could be looking here as this H1N1 flu keeps galloping along here.

It’s understandable the business world isn’t worried.

It’s remarkable the real world isn’t, either.
