Leading Worldwide Supplier of Patient Monitoring Technology Turns to Trapeze Networks for NonStop Wireless
Comtex
PLEASANTON, Calif., Aug 04, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ ----Drager Medical, an international leader in the fields of medical and safety, has certified interoperability between Drager's line of Infinity patient monitoring equipment and Trapeze Networks' line of NonStop Wireless networking.
In Drager's notice of certification, Lars Roth of Drager's Monitoring Systems and IT group, wrote, "Due to the critical nature of medical devices, Drager Medical tests and verifies network hardware components used for communication between medical system devices. These tests include proper IP Multicast handling, wireless roaming, wireless encryption and load testing. In addition, tests with competing traffic are run in order to understand and detect the proper Quality of Service settings. These are the key parameters that will ensure that in a shared Infinity OneNet installation, the data flow of the Drager patient monitors is being prioritized over non-patient monitor data."
"People kick around the words 'mission-critical' until the expression is meaningless," said Ahmet Tuncay, executive vice president of product management and business development at Trapeze Networks. "For Drager, mission-critical means monitoring patients in the ER, ICU, OR, and everywhere in between. Drager has pioneered mobile patient monitoring and is turning to the leader in NonStop Wireless, Trapeze Networks, for wireless infrastructure. -- That's mission critical."
Infinity: A New Dimension in Patient Care
The Infinity(R) patient monitoring system is built on a heritage of almost 40 years of cardiac monitoring experience and a track record of technical innovation at the acute point of care. Only Drager Medical provides a single patient monitor that can be used throughout the hospital, including transport. This approach provides the benefits of standardization without compromising patient care or caregiver preferences, and enables patient and caregiver mobility.
Smart Mobile: The Only NonStop Wireless(TM) Solution for Medical Applications
Smart Mobile(TM) is the only WLAN architecture optimized for medical applications and this is why: Mission-critical applications require low latency, efficient traffic forwarding, and total quality of service management -- all areas where Trapeze Networks have time-tested, industry-leading positions. Patient monitors connect only once to the network, authenticate, and then roam freely throughout the hospital.

No, it's not a dance craze. Contago is a condition of supply and demand, essentially a fancy word to say that prices for items, typically commodities, are cheaper now than they would be at some point down the line.
Anything that¿s sold in the futures market can be in a case of contango. Futures are exactly that: a contract to buy an item or asset at a price in the future. This is the case with oil, with traders buying and selling contracts to acquire a barrel of oil in months down the line. When a market is in contango, spot prices, or the price of a commodity if you were to buy it right now, are lower than forward prices.
Why is that important? Well, it usually tells you the supply of a given commodity is plentiful (since, according to Economics 101, a large supply usually leads to cheap prices).
Incidentally, if you think contango is a mouthful, its opposite condition is known by the equally tongue-tying term backwardation.
