Legislator Direct(TM) Compliance (LDC) is the first solution of its kind on the market. It was built to help DDC's clients and the broader public affairs industry more easily meet the new compliance obligations and reporting requirements of the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007. DDC has been hard at work on this product since these new laws went into effect January 1, 2008.

DDC has been in the forefront of LDA solutions for their clients, most recently releasing their LD-203 FECA Disbursements Report export functionality for clients using their Democracy Direct(TM) PAC software to dramatically simplify the filing of the LD-203 report on July 30. DDC was able to react immediately to the release of the LD-203 on July 21 and provide their clients with a solution for the filing nine days later. Thirty-seven of their clients successfully utilized this export for the July 30 filing.

DDC's complete Legislator Direct(TM) Compliance solution is designed to meet the full set of LDA reporting requirements -- both the semiannual (LD-203) and quarterly (LD-2) compliance reports -- quickly, easily and thoroughly. The solution's architecture allows users to identify the information required to be reported under the new law, record it, approve its completeness and then electronically prepare and send their filing to the respective House and Senate offices. The application is ideal for individuals who file Lobbying Disclosure Reports.

Contango

No, it's not a dance craze. Contago is a condition of supply and demand, essentially a fancy word to say that prices for items, typically commodities, are cheaper now than they would be at some point down the line.

Anything that¿s sold in the futures market can be in a case of contango. Futures are exactly that: a contract to buy an item or asset at a price in the future. This is the case with oil, with traders buying and selling contracts to acquire a barrel of oil in months down the line. When a market is in contango, spot prices, or the price of a commodity if you were to buy it right now, are lower than forward prices.

Why is that important? Well, it usually tells you the supply of a given commodity is plentiful (since, according to Economics 101, a large supply usually leads to cheap prices).

Incidentally, if you think contango is a mouthful, its opposite condition is known by the equally tongue-tying term backwardation.
