" This climate starting and running a small business is even more to challenge than ever. Tonight our first installment of our small business spotlight where we showcase. Are entrepreneurs and small businesses from all over the country. It all kinds of businesses now one couple spotted a growing trend police cars all over the nation outfitted with a little video cameras in the bumpers but. The technology was becoming increasingly outdated. That's where the owners of I cops stepped in we welcome I -- Digital's chairman and CEO David O one. And president and chief operating officer Lora -- And it's not coincidental but they are have the same last name because they earth -- get married couple they join us now from. Kansas City so how did you folks getting dollar state but I understand you were -- CEO and and president of a couple of banks in Kansas City or. Lieutenant governor of Kansas how do you go from that is starting a business. Well we also were."

" Both Laura and I have a background investment banking and frankly we attack came perfect situation because after the 9/11 instant. It became increasingly obvious that surveillance was going to become -- much much bigger. Deal and in America than it had been in the past. And coupled with that as you mentioned earlier we found that the police were still using old VHS tape decks and -- in the car for video solution so. It was kind of a perfect situation -- growing market and a technology change that we could lead the way and."

" It's all so what did what differentiates -- I guess the word digital Laura means that you you got rid of that VHS is and you're going all digital. Where does the information where's the information actually recorded."

" Great question you obviously haven't been in the backseat of a police car lately back. And thank goodness. About half of the police cars in the United States -- video cameras today unfortunately the vast majority of those are still the old analog. And technology. So like our system there are many things that differentiate us the quality of the video that we captures much higher than our competitor video. Other quality of the audio is also higher. And also very unique where the footprint in the car because we don't have any equipment hanging over the officer's head that can become a project -- even an accident. We literally remove the NFM radio. And we replace that with our unit that has adults and am FM radio C have their recorder the hard drive. The the key word for operating system and a monitor all right there and the dance now."

" He you know even even if you you have been a focus on something that's that spoke Iran like Homeland Security. It's still difficult to start a business in this climate no matter. What you're doing an ad but I understand you've been successful even at raising capital David."

" Yes we have we've -- we've had a very fortunate partnership with the company. And Portland Paulson investment company you have. Been a very effective at raising capital force no matter which. Which part of the economy we found -- sells them not thought it was -- pretty interesting that the -- you -- the lead and this was about boxing and go on twelve around -- frankly we feel like we've gone twelve rounds as a small business over the last year because it's been a tough climate. But we have been able to raise capital and stay afloat and not only -- stay afloat but progress extremely well both domestically."

" Davis veterinary -- before rush you but we're running anti just because there -- a lot of people watching out there who. Who might want to know how you raise capital in this climate of course you have your banking experience. But I I know you exercise and class B Warren's got about 400000 that way how -- actually raise capital. Most of our I capital raises have been traditional traditional we've done a registered offerings we've done -- offerings. We have converted warrants. And frankly I think the key was the way we set up the financial enjoyed gave us a continuing stream of access to capital. And -- finally -- I got I got to ask just one question because -- be Mexico you've got some business's Adam actually may have that. Horrendous problem with the all of the drug related killings. Tell us about your dealings within."

" Yes actually in this past year we've -- some new markets outside of the United States. In Mexico obviously with the US funding flowing to Mexico to overcome the challenges that the drug cartels. As well in Saudi Arabia. We're the first company to having her video in one of the largest security forces in the world in the ministry frontier in Saudi Arabia as a great opportunity for us. So I think what what Davis saying our ability to access capital in the markets as a publicly traded companies and terrific. But also looking forward our success in international markets and open these markets is very very important to our growth in this next year we're very excited about our future."

" Well and I love the fact that you you don't take these as as. Her full challenges but his opportunities even even when it comes yeah competition abroad David -- one floor all on its -- I cop vigil and congratulations. Now lifer for starting it but for doing so well in this environment could work."

focusing here the onus is on congress because these are cuts the White House wants to make in congress won't let him do it. Emergency operations. Centers this is not as much money. But -- guided senator Harry Reid is involved in this what's that about. Well this is important because. The White House said 35 million dollar they want to cut this program. Harry Reid said and I know sixty million I want sixty million Ford saw everyone thinks there's this big hug upon with the Democrats think congress in the White House . When it comes appropriation when it comes earmarks. That isn't necessarily the case and leadership has the privileges in this case. All right anti smog program and -- for sound like some big it's impossible to be against what's wrong with -- anti smog problem. Program worth ten million bucks in California. While we don't see a lot of positive Kamal the White House but in this case they want this money awarded competitively. Senator Feinstein that none none none now. I want the money I don't care what you want I want this money regard them regardless of competition and David this is the age old battle of congress versus the president. President Bush went up against a Republican congress that try to cut spending he failed out of now we have Obama going up the
series scoreboards saving another 100 million dollars. Well now even when the White House tries to pay lip service to cutting back frivolous programs congress keeps calling them back. The house and senate approving bills that preserve funding. But White House wanted to cut. It'll bring down its Davis another hundred billion David Williams for citizens against government -- David great to see
