Stan Lee on Disney-Marvel Deal

" Spiderman just got a new boss that's fighting say hello to Mickey Mouse the Walt Disney company today. Announcing that it is buying Marvel Entertainment on the such iconic superheroes the whole. Iron Man the fantastic four that don't forget the silver surfer and countless others. For the hefty sum up of four billion dollars a lot of people say it was a little too much to be paid for one analyst says the acquisition though. Will help Disney appeal to young men who have flocked to theaters to see marbles superhero fare in recent years. Recent -- successes such as Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers obviously appealed more to young women and now for his first television interview since the announcement today that bad at. Who created many of those. Marvel superhero characters and created fans like me who will be fans for the rest of his life. Mr. Stanley joining us now the -- stand -- here is okay."

" We have eight what they called a first look deal with Disney everything I do they get to get a first look at it we have three movies in development with -- now let's argue feature but it -- the F mobile phones. Cold and talk and jumper and did so we're very actively -- and I love him and I -- marble and it's like -- best friends are coming."

" Yeah that's wonderful now tell us why you like this because some people would say. You know the characters of Bambi and snow wider so different from the characters and the hope in the silver surfer inspired the more edgy but what do you say to that."

" Not because they characters have the hope in the so disturbed by and Bambi and so what their characters that you have to care about. And what we have caring about it and orphaned -- caring about a big green monster who wishes he weren't a big green monster and it's the same thing. It's all characters that you remember you're encouraged it and blows me is. Great and doing characters. Now they had been concentrating. More on the younger market. They've concentrated quite a bit on females. But when they get out to do an action movie. Or something like pirates of the Caribbean nobody does it better."

" Well that's true when there's some pretty edgy characters like Johnny Depp character would you. Well so what is the culture of Disney like you've worked well for marvel for. For red for Disney aren't aren't are they going to have any clashes or did they yeah -- integrate well the effect."

" I would think they would integrate perfectly I -- Obviously know the people at marvel I know the marble culture but I can tell you need -- need people are smart. They're fair minded. They they know business and they are also very creative and -- them. Has been an absolute majority so I think this is going to work out perfectly it's like. It's completed the circle marble. And Disney and a little bit of our entertainment -- that's -- and I think it's great."

" That's wonderful by the way it was it was similar debate when when bad news -- bought. Dow Jones -- The Wall Street Journal it's wonderful I used to work at a journal back when there was Dow Jones it's it's great when these companies come together again you can you can be one of the uniter -- Are you going to play a role here stance since you have a unique position of having worked for both companies. " It's it is funny how that happens very often it doesn't -- doesn't always sometimes it messes up but one of the great things about marvel was how they took. The comic book to the silver screen so. I say effortlessly -- I know there was a lot of effort that went into it but it looked effortlessly from from the consumer's standpoint."

" Whenever you do something right it always looks effortless that's really the attached and the people at -- new. Just how these characters should be presented. And that they -- like about Disney. When they do something they know what had to deal with. And there are also such a great marketing company I mean just imagine what they can do with those marvel characters. Marketing White Hall."

" Yeah well and the theme parks you think of the -- tradition heralded Disneyland."

" But some bands who were a little bit meant -- And they keep saying how could you put Mickey Mouse next -- Iron Man but that's not the case there is room for both -- Both of them can be done beautifully.
