Under the same bold dreams big victories Benjamin Jealous is president and CEO of NAACP. He's joining us now to talk about everything that's convenience store he'd be here now thank you -- to be here. Hundredth convention of the NAACP. But our first. African American president how does Barack Obama's election changed your message. Change your direction for the next hundred years. Well you know it's."

" It increases hope. At the same time when hope goes up. People's. Frustrations -- if they're situation doesn't want with it right to win this time when folks that you know are having hard time finding work. When -- not getting paid EE BE. And nothing work when the -- schools and you know -- And yet the kids' dreams -- us or higher. And so it's this weird time when a win win win people on the one hand think that we can do great things. In this country and yet we have to fight very hard for right now and you know what's going on this -- swim club in Philadelphia right what is this thing what. Part of what the -- what the hell's wrong with that club. -- black they can't get -- to leave the club because they changed the complexion Apple here of the pool I mean in this. Yet in 2000 -- what what -- right and that's you know and that -- is a -- in this country you know it's just you know and the reality that here we are in the 21 century. Talking about black kids getting thrown out the swimming pool. Is hugely disheartening and it. And that's what we're dealing with right now you know out our focuses good schools good jobs. Safe. And chest. It's system you know. Criminal justice system. For all in this country in. This you know having an office makes it easier and also makes it much more. Urging increased bureaucracy all the same time on is that people want change now right you know and I mean they think -- things are gonna go like that if we sort of some work to do and what. -- starting -- one. So right now you know we've got to get people back to work -- you know we can't just have a fixed for. Mainstream we gotta have a fix for Backstreet. Black people in this country. The -- jobless rate is twice that of whites you know sometimes it's a 160%. And so if we're going to pump hundreds of billions of dollars. All taxpayers. But my money right into the economy that we got to do with the disparities at the same time. Is want more money issue if Pakistan. You know that's something that needs to be. Debated in Washington."

" We'll -- very quickly actually we're going to get to Washington just 12 folks just just one thing we got here because it is a big year for you guys. With the convention a hundred years. There is a frustration among taxpayers that money's not being spent well -- is being given now -- how do you best use the money how do we need to do what you say if you -- the jobs. That is giving people money right but to. Better their situation long term for their future generations well you know how."

" We sure that frustration too because. Doug. We're the reality is that shovel ready for instance means that you can shovel pass the whole bunch of small business people. It the the past administration dismantled all of those sort of civil rights. Capacity in Washington for ensuring that these sorts of contracts get handed out fairly and so -- you going to -- these funds right through. And the concern is that they're you know you're going to see the sorts of things that that that we saw with Katrina that we saw with Afghanistan which saw what I've -- as far as big. Big business getting big dollars and small folks being pushed -- past."

" Which we have more time Benjamin Jealous."

" Good to -- have a great convention Wednesday as the president stake is the Pratt free speech on Thursday holder speaks on decide on Monday we'll have. Secretary Vilsack there too. Right have a great reading it kinda given the economics of your organization in this economy and so we're doing what I know we're doing well well we'll bring back a lot of good reason he'd come back all right thank you thank you been benched for the -- president CEO of."
