" Now video games have been the one area that has been widely. Nintendo of America president and chief operating officer. Reginald fees and that is joining us right now are ready yet to say live from satellite. Reggie what a morning it is I I imagine to be talking about. The video game industry you're probably hearing about what's happening here the auto makers were already -- difficult environments in a recessionary climate. What do you make of this news and I think this is gonna impact retail --"
" You know the the news coming up this morning from the auto industry really is tough news and it it impacts to so many different consumers. Retail sales have already been out battered a little bit so far this holiday season. Luckily Nintendo's and have very different place ourselves are actually doing quite well in the video game industry overall is doing well. But certainly this happened is impacts everyone everyone in the country."
" Yeah I mean I would imagine I am looking at your November numbers I think I saw these sold over two million we machines -- is I think. The fourth quarter last year about two point eight. You're firing on all cylinders like music like this from the fact that we're living this really difficult climate. I first of all what are you doing to outpace expectations. And number two does does that worry you it each and every day is here about another 10% of job layoffs."
" You know from a Nintendo perspective what were doing to -- as you say fire on all cylinders. It's were providing not only great economic value on our products are affordable way they offer. Tremendous value when you or pulling out your wallet or pocketbook. But we also represent great entertainment value -- our systems. You can play for hours and really the entire family can participate and have a good time. And so for us that's what is driving our sales to consumer. They're really making a tough choices to what is that one holiday gift to abide. And luckily it's either the weird the DS that's that's making it to the top."
" The listen you know -- you kind of notorious. For. Appearing as though and I don't know whether it's true oh sorry it's just to bring up pent up demand as say you never really had enough we machines so that every time somebody goes to buy it we always hear about these massive lines around the block. If that's part the story here or is it that you just not making enough what's the real story."
" Well the real story is this Alexis we are putting the 50% more hardware into the marketplace this holiday season. Versus last holiday season. We've ramped up our production four times over the past year. So certainly our job is to make as many pieces of hardware as possible and get them into the right stores at the right time. That's what we're trying to do our sales this month in November 2 million pieces of hardware. Versus less than a million last year during the say it the same month. Really highlight that we are doing everything humanly possible to get. We systems Wii fit DS all into the marketplace. So the consumer confined itself. It's it's not a marketing ploy it's not some sort of attempt on our part. To drive. This frenzy of demand it really is being in a fortunate position of offering a product that right now everybody."
" Why is pretty hot yes so last year fourth quarter as I was saying before. You sold two point eight million Wii's I think was about four point one million. Hand held DS is what is your projection by the time you get through the end of this fourth quarter that you will have done in both of those. And both those devices."
" Well let's take though we hardware first as I said we're putting 50% more product. This year into retail stores versus last year so. We're certainly on -- on track to deliver about 50% growth year on year October November December. Can we beat that we're certainly trying but that right now is is what we're tracking two on the DS similarly. DS did a record number of units last year were trying to do 10% more. So right now that's that's our projection but certainly we're looking to do everything possible to beat those numbers."
" All right well I Reggie fees and it's great to see a company doing very well even in a difficult climate and I thank you very much for. For speaking on what's that a typical morning for the markets continue."
