Nascar: Chase for the Cup

" Stars' playoff if you will begin this weekend at chase for the Sprint Cup ten races twelve drivers. But only one champion. Despite not winning a race yet this year Greg Biffle made it into that top dozen drivers for these final ten NASCAR races. He got to sit down with David -- to talk about what it'll take a hole in the big -- It's almost going to witness NASCAR fans may. A global. You know a lot of people do point UN forgive me but they say -- the dark horse candidate for the win because I haven't won a race but is that this this whole. Championship is based on points you're doing darn well in the points. Yeah we really do we were really -- and we've ones. The last five years were one of two drivers they have wanted to raise the last ten races of the season. So we haven't won yet this year. But odds are that we're gonna win one of the last ten thought -- nutshell description for those out there are familiar how NASCAR work -- you have to chase which is kind of like the playoffs and that leads to the finals right we have the regular season. We're twelve guys get in the playoffs so twelve guys are in the playoffs right now. And they give ten bonus points per win otherwise if nobody had and winds would be all even in point starting with twelve races ago. So the top guy has eight wins which is eighty point lead on so. We have eighty point deficit right now which is not that much you have one raise. You know five points for positions so. We finished eighth spots ahead of that guy. And outwardly this -- don't win. It is kind of it is kind of restraint system where these guys who have been winning Jimmy Johnson others who have been waiting Stewart. Does it does it feel kind of awkward taking away from people than actually winning their races not really because our sport isn't really. You know -- rewarded on consistency. And running it we're gonna have to run in the top five so we're going to have to be there Jimmy Johnson and I had a marvelous race. That California Speedway we were battling head to head all night long. You know and he end -- this out you know he had a faster -- might but we were right there and and the fans remember that what made a difference by the way that rates he just the car handled that much better his car was just on the racetrack with a different -- and really light like a net -- swimming race and Mike -- where he was -- got back 100 the good of a second away it's it was that service -- sort of a situation you're the kind of guy. -- race car owner loves to have drive and went for him because the fact that your Conyers you're not one of those. One of those guys agreed to gives people a lot of trouble does that make it easier for you in the industry I think it does you know. I mean everybody talks about those rivalries and all that well. When there's that rivalry you're always going to take a jab at that Cairo litigating factory here in and you know we got ten races we cannot afford the trip right now we have ten races they have to be -- perfect races. And we don't we don't want to have any rivalries right now times are slow down we don't know whether it's recession one day they say yes the next -- say no but the bottom line is. It's harder to get advertisement used to be are you having any trouble getting sponsors I'm not really you know 3M is doing very well Koreans a large company there third book you know really diverse across the board but I am having trouble getting to the racetrack you know that did you cut fuel. And now they gasoline you know -- cost them so much I mean that's what hurt everybody. You know as soon as we get the strangle hold off -- the news from the us oil. I think everybody's going to be fine well -- for certain you it's probably heard of folks are trying to get their failure rates of certain everybody understands a little less filled with and they -- debate. It's very small percentage but for the most part we still see sellout crowds. You know you hear when you go around talking to people when you're when they come to see after the race -- on what they say about how they're doing these days. Well I mean you guys more. I guess you guys and hockey players -- couple other sports -- really interact with a crowd you you folks do that's why people love NASCAR so much use as your regular folks we can all identify with each -- I think so and what we see -- is a lot of folks coming to the racetrack in their home -- Because that's their vacation. That's what they're going to do consider traveling. You know the Florida or wherever they're going to go they come out to the NASCAR race because it's a family event Lincoln comic and have fun for the weekend they don't travel long ways so I think that's why we're still seeing a lot of fans of the -- what are they telling. What they tell me about their condition right now the other there the times are tough for everybody. You know there have a tough time and it's fuels drive and you know and they've made this big deal about the mortgage and you know thing and all that I know that that have a lot of impact a lot of people. But it's the everyday people going you word champion driving trucks as well as car so I mean you know you look at the intelligent trucks yet -- had that sit particular race field might be slow down a little now. No not really mean they seem to you know actually it's kind of ironic they all use about the same parts they look a little bit different but the same thing is that right up and they get the same miles per -- same miles per -- really got a big truck is one of the small race -- smaller race card well there they're actually not that much bigger and physical size they may look like kid but in physical size or not that much -- actually the same way. Interest thing now. Some day you may be I don't know your eyesight you got legalize right now but someday it might be on -- Wayne or whatever you ever think give starting your own. Race company I thought about that you know and Adam's face of that same opportunities Tony Stewart -- was -- chaos. And had those same opportunities recently we just signed three year extension all Roush Fenway so we just got that done recently. And now we're excited about that so 3 am back on board that they were really one of his points -- main sponsor 3M and they said. We're in three years no matter what he's driving cars and and so -- back. That's the place where Hillary get three years is over may be that maybe then yeah absolutely. Yes my feeling I've -- Joe Gibbs yes you never know by the -- is -- the nicest guy and has there absolutely is believe him and Rick Rick Hendrick.
