Powell Sworn In As Fed Governor

Former investment banker Jerome Powell was sworn Friday in as a member of the Federal Reserve Board, the central bank announced.

Powell, a former partner in the private equity firm, the Carlyle Group LP was confirmed to a Fed seat with a term expiring in January 2014. Powell and Harvard professor Jeremy Stein were confirmed by the Senate last week.
