Greek Shares Rally: Finance Minister to Meet with Draghi Wednesday

Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis will meet with European Central Bank President Mario Draghi in Frankfurt on Wednesday and said he is "optimistic" about finding an agreement on Greece's debt.

Mr. Varoufakis, who is in Rome to meet Italian government officials, made the remarks during a meeting with the Italian press on Tuesday. A Greek official confirmed the comments.

Greece's new premier, Alexis Tsipras, and Mr. Varoufakis are in the midst of a tour of European capitals in an effort to convince fellow European leaders to reverse the stringent terms of Greece's EUR140 billion ($159 billion) bailout.

The Greek finance minister also said he will meet with German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble in Berlin on Thursday. Mr. Varoufakis expressed "great respect" for his German counterpart.

"I only entered politics three weeks ago," the Greek minister said. "Therefore, I remain optimistic on the possibility of an agreement."
