Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump planned a timely visit to the Trump Turnberry Resort in Scotland.  Speaking from the golf course greens he applauded Britain’s vote to leave the European Union.

“People want to take their country back.  They want to have independence in a sense.  And you see it all over Europe,” Trump continued, “I think you’ll have many other cases where they want to take their borders back, they want to take their monetary back.”

Trump sees a potential domino effect that could bust up the EU. “Well, it looks like it’s on its way and we’ll see what happens” he added.

He also made a parallel between British voters’ decision and American voters’ support of his candidacy.

“I think it’s happening in the United States.  It’s happening by the fact that I have done so well in the polls.  You look at the recent polling, you look at the swing states and you see how I’m doing.  And I haven’t even started my campaign yet essentially.”

Despite the vote, Trump assured the crowd that the U.K. would remain a vital ally to the United States under a potential Trump Administration.

“The U.K. has been such a great ally for so long, they’ll always be at the front of the line, they’ve been amazing allies, in good times and in bad times.”

Trump added that President Obama got it wrong during his recent visit to Britain by suggesting the region would move ‘to the back of the queue’ if the country left the European Union.
