Welcome to On Sale at FOX Business, where we look at cool stuff and insane bargains.
A new Check Point creation protects your computer for free while Saluto works to end PC slowness.
Stay cool in the shade this summer with some high-tech windows. And Smartphone fans get some good (and bad) news from AT&T. Barnes and Noble has a new eReader deal.
And check out what’s happening this summer at a scholarly social network.
Walls Ease
Check Point (CHKP) has a new software security system to keep your computer safe.
The best part?
It’s free.
ZoneAlarm Free Firewall uses cloud technology to add stronger protection to your antivirus software. Through Check Point’s Defense Net, ZoneAlarm uses both an inbound and outbound firewall to detect programs that are potentially harmful and immediately blocks them. Then, that information is spread through the cloud to warn other users of potential security threats, similar to a virtual “neighborhood watch” program.
According to Check Point, ZoneAlarm detects threats antivirus software can miss, such as code injectors and vulnerability checkers. Download yours now here.
Soluto Salute
Slow computer got you down? Enter Soluto.
It’s called “anti-frustration software” and it aims to find out why your computer is suddenly sluggish. When called upon, Soluto searches to see what’s causing the dreaded hourglass to appear, and then suggests ways to solve the problem. If you’re not confident in handling it yourself, Soluto will do it for you (with permission, of course.) It also tracks the problem, in case other users have similar experiences and solutions to share.
Sun Block
Keep the sun out – and be energy efficient – with some high-tech windows from RavenBrick. The Colorado-based company created a window filter that detects sunlight and heat and tints the window accordingly. (Think of it as sunglasses for your house.)
RavenBrick says a tinted window costs about 30% more than a standard double-pane window, but it cuts your energy bill by reducing energy consumption by up to 40%. Find out more by visiting here..
Fee For All
Attention potential AT&T (T) customers: Breaking your new contract with the company will cost you. As of June 1, anyone with a new smartphone or netbook from AT&T will pay $325 for breaking their contract. The old fee was $175.
But here’s the good news: If you keep your smartphone or netbook and remain a customer, AT&T will lower its early termination fee [ETF] by $10 per month.
Those of you with basic and messaging phones also get a deal. AT&T is slashing its ETF for those two-year contracts to $150 from $175. It will drop the ETF by $4 for each month you stay with the company.
Book Market
Pandigital, known mostly for its digital photo frames, has joined forces with Barnes & Noble(BKS) to introduce its new Novel eReader with a 7-inch color screen and full access to Barnes & Noble’s eBookstore.
Pandigital eReader users can also access the bookstore’s LendMe service, which allows you to share favorite literary works with others for up to two weeks. Pandigital says the new device has a battery life of six hours, along with a gigabyte of internal memory.
It weighs in at one pound, and will cost you $199.

Curricular Activities
The school year may be winding down, but Grockit.com is hard at work. The social network is aimed at students of all ages to improve their study skills.
The Grockit Summer Enrichment Academy program is available for 8th-12th graders and covers subjects such as pre-calculus and trigonometry.
If you enroll before June 15, you’ll have access to the program all summer long for just $79.99. There’s also a scholarship available. And for those who can’t get enough of school, Grockit has study guides for those taking their MCATs, LSATs, and GMATs.
