ResponsibleShopper.org just released a new study on the “greenest” airlines in the sky. According to Responsible Shopper, airlines in the United States generate over 880 million tons of waste each year. The majority of this waste could be recycled, but Responsible Shopper found that only 20% of it actually is.
Among the most eco-friendly in terms of recycling are Delta (DAL), Virgin America, and Southwest (LUV). The worst offenders, according to the report: United (UAUA) and US Airways (LCC). If you want to factor this into your decision the next time you’re choosing an airline, visit greenamerica.org for the full report.
