10 best jobs websites
On Monday, I promised that I'd give you some places to go on the web if you're looking for a job. Jobseekers put a lot of faith in the internet, but the truth is this - there is no magic website that can guarantee you a job. However, the web can help with your search. The trick is knowing which sites to use and how to use them. The big job listing sites like www.monster.com and www.careerbuilder.com are popular but understand that thousands even tens of thousands of people will be responding to listings on those sites. And, remember, most HR departments - especially the ones in big companies - don't go through individual resumes by hand - they automate that task. That means if you are responding to a job listing online you want to include language from the listing in your resume. That way search software used by these companies will at least put your resume in the pile that gets looked at by a real person. One good idea - go to websites that specialize in placing people in your field. Health care professionals would be wise to check out www.absolutleyhealthcare.com or www.allhealthcarejobs.com and there's www.healthcareweb.com. In accounting or finance? Take a look at www.CareerBank.com. A good site for IT workers, www.dice.com.
If you're a vet, check out www.Vet Jobs.com.
Finally, as you search, you'll want to research. A good site to help you understand what you're likely to earn: www.salary.com. Folks who only want a part-time gig, should check out www.snagajob.com.
