Unions: Good for bad teachers, bad for kids
A just-retired public school principal writes me after my special:
You nailed the problems and issues in today's public education... with the current teacher unions, textbook companies, and especially teacher TENURE... teacher "tenure" is all but stopping 21st Century educational reform all over the United States... continue reading »

STUPID IN AMERICA (Sunday on FNC at 9pm EST)
School spending has gone through the roof and test scores are flat.
While most every other service in life has gotten faster, better, and cheaper, one of the most important things we buy -- education -- has remained completely stagnant, unchanged since we started measuring it in 1970.
Why no improvement?... continue reading »

Stupid in America (New Show Tonight at 10pm on FBN)
Not everyone liked my education special "Stupid in America". I got angry emails, accusing me of "union bashing" and "teacher bashing".
Tonight on FBN, I'll revisit the subject. We'll show more of the exciting things happening in charter schools, where students told us "learning is fun" and reading is "rockin' awesome".

Firing Charlie Sheen
That’s what Bill O'Reilly wants to talk about tonight. Sometimes O’Reilly drives me crazy. Yesterday, his producer tells me: “Bill would like to know your thoughts on Peter King’s upcoming hearings on Islamic extremism. Is it legit for him to bring Muslims and single them out for hearings?” So I spent the day researching that. Today he changed the topic. I like this one better anyway. One reason capitalism creates jobs is that companies can fire people. Europe makes that hard. ... continue reading »

O'Reilly Tonight: Unions
Tonight Bill O’Reilly wants me to talk about today's NY Times front page story claiming "Majority in Poll Back Employees in Public Sector Unions." Most people back the unions? I'm not surprised Americans support collective bargaining “rights.” Unless you have really been paying attention, you don't understand what works in the private sector doesn't work in government, where unions bargain with politicians whom they helped elect. People don't know that federal workers can't bargain collectively,... continue reading »

Battle for the Future, a Fox News Channel hour with John Stossel AIRING SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 27th at 10 PM
The battle has gotten louder. Some Republican Governors have finally said “no” to government workers’ unions. The unions protest, saying the governors have waged war against American “labor.” But unions don’t really represent American labor... continue reading »

This Week's Column: Public-Sector Unions Choke America
We've seen how unions negotiated contracts that ultimately helped bring down giants like GM & Chrysler...but at least they negotiated with private sector managers who theoretically have to make sure those contracts don't bankrupt their companies. (Of course, now we know that government -- Republicans and/or Democrats -- may bail them out with taxpayer money, but that’s not the usual assumption.) In my syndicated column this week, I take another look at public sector unions... continue reading »

Web-Only Segment of Tonight's Show: Bankrupting America
My FBN show tonight looked at how entitlements, public employees unions, and endless government spending are bankrupting America. They have left the country thirteen and a half trillion dollars in debt -- and it's getting worse every day. Add in the entitlement promises and the deficit we face is forty five trillion. But are we doomed?... continue reading »

Tonight's Show: Bankrupting America (FBN @ 9pm ET)
This chart tells the story. Our government has already spent thirteen trillion more dollars than it has taxes to cover. Tonight's show (FBN @ 9pm ET) is all about why we're bankrupting America and what we can do about it.
The future looks ugly... continue reading »

Reaction to my FNC special
I’m getting plenty of push back about my special this weekend:
I love how we are classified as parasites. I get up at 3:50 most days. On the road by 4:30. During our busiest season it is usually six days a week…to be compared to a parasite is friggin over the line... continue reading »
