Tonight’s Show: Get the Busybodies Out of Sports
My FBN show this week is about the central planners and their rules about sports. Will you bet on the Super Bowl this Sunday? I will, and so will millions of other Americans. But the central planners say such gambling is a danger to us and to the integrity of sport... continue reading »

Give Roger Clemens a Break!
Former star pitcher Roger Clemens will be arraigned today by the feds for lying to Congress about his use of performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). He faces a potential 20 months in prison and a $1.5 million fine. Let's cut him some slack. At the time Clemens allegedly took steroids, lots of players did, and the substances weren't even illegal in private MLB. Analysts like "The Baseball Economist" J.C... continue reading »

Big Government Sports
After New York lost bids to host the Olympics, a disappointed Mayor Michael Bloomberg called hosting the Olympics, “an incredible opportunity to build infrastructure, create jobs, and attract new visitors and business." Politicians always make such claims when suckering taxpayers into paying for grand public projects like lavish sports stadiums. Politicians always make this foolish claim when suckering taxpayer... continue reading »

Why LeBron Should Stay in Cleveland
My producer Patrick McMenamin is from Cleveland, and a die-hard Cleveland sports fan. He is agonizing over the decision that LeBron James will make later tonight. (David Asman has a one hour special on "The Business of LeBron" tonight, after “Stossel” at 9pm ET)... continue reading »

Congress Ponders Football II
This week, a few big college football teams announced that they will switch conferences. Some pandering politicians don’t accept that:

Racism and Baseball
This week, pro baseball player Orlando Hudson suggested that some prominent players are out of work because they are black:
believes there is a racist element to the free-agent market in baseball, and that it’s paralyzing the 36-year-old Dye’s ability to earn what non-blacks with commensurate numbers received in the off-season... continue reading »

Major League Nannies
Rep. Henry Waxman has decided that Congress needs to probe, of all things, the use of chewing tobacco in Major League Baseball. Waxman is famous for leading the charge against steroids in baseball. In person, I’ve found the Congressman very pleasant. As a public official, he is a clueless, intrusive bully. Waxman said: "We don't let baseball players go stand out there in the field and drink beer. Major League Baseball won't allow them to step on the field and smoke cigarettes... continue reading »

Tonight’s Show at 8pm & 11pm EST: Drew Carey Saves Cleveland
Last night, the Cleveland Cavaliers clinched their division title. At least the city’s basketball team is good. The rest of the city is not. Forbes Magazine recently rated Cleveland as the country’s “most miserable city.” Once America’s sixth-largest city, it has been in decline for decades, and the city’s bureaucrat planners have done nothing to help. ... continue reading »
