Is Jesse Jackson King?
People keep using the term “African-American.” Why? What’s wrong with the word “black?” Nothing, at least until the late 1980’s when Jesse Jackson said that people should use the term African-American instead. “Black tells you about skin color and what side of town you live on, he said. “African American evokes discussion of the world.” Ok, he’s entitled to his opinion, but he isn’t our king... continue reading »

Celebrate Race Relations? (FNC @ 9pm ET Sat & Sun)
On my first Fox News Special, What’s Great About America, which airs this weekend, I argue that one of the things we should celebrate about America is American race relations. Yes, America has a history of slavery, then Jim Crow, then segregation and today, there’s still some racial hatred. But for a country that one generation ago had a presidential candidate (George Wallace) declaring “segregation forever”, race relations in this country are remarkably good... continue reading »

Forced Association
Last night I pointed out that the result of discrimination laws today is that all-women gyms are sued and forced to let in men; a gay softball team is sued for rejecting bisexual members; A Christian wedding photographer is fined thousands of dollars for refusing to take photos of a gay wedding. ... continue reading »

O'Reilly Tonight: Freedom of Association
Tonight on The Factor, O’Reilly and I argue about the role of government. I am a libertarian. I say: Thank God for the Civil Rights Act. It outlawed horrible, racist Jim Crow laws passed by governments. Southern States required segregated schools and libraries. When private companies didn’t segregate – many thought it was bad business – governments forced them to... continue reading »

Racism and Rand Paul
Megyn Kelly, on her show yesterday, berated me for defending Kentucky Senate candidate Rand Paul’s objection to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and for supporting the right of private business owners to decide who they serve. This came up because Paul recently said this:"I don't like the idea of telling private business owners . I abhor racism. I think it's a bad business decision to ever exclude anyone from your restaurant -- but at the same time I do believe in private ownership... continue reading »

Racism and Baseball
This week, pro baseball player Orlando Hudson suggested that some prominent players are out of work because they are black:
believes there is a racist element to the free-agent market in baseball, and that it’s paralyzing the 36-year-old Dye’s ability to earn what non-blacks with commensurate numbers received in the off-season... continue reading »

DOJ Says Non-partisan Elections Racist
Voters in heavily Democratic Kinston, North Carolina, decided that they didn’t want to use party affiliation in local elections. They were clear about it. A vote for it passed by a 2 to 1 margin last year. But the change first had to be approved by the U.S. Department of Justice. DOJ said no, arguing that black candidates would have a harder time getting elected without party labels... continue reading »
