What Budget Cuts?
Listening to the liberal media, you'd think the era of big government is finally over. After all, Obama signed off on deal that includes: "New massive cuts" ... "severe spending cuts" ... "draconian and unnecessary budget cuts"... continue reading »

President Herman Cain?
Of all the Republican Presidential Candidates, Gallup says Herman Cain has the highest "positive intensity score." That means voters who know him - like him.
That's a good thing, and I like Cain because he has an impressive record in the business world. He turned around the failing Godfather's Pizza. Unlike most politicians, he understands business, and the damage regulation does... continue reading »

Herman Cain Debates President Obama
On my show tonight at 10pm, I host a debate between Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain and President Obama.
Ok, it's not actually President Obama. I invited Obama impersonator Reggie Brown to fight with Mr. Cain. I did the same thing with candidates Ron Paul and Gary Johnson. But various Stossel-haters, like my stalkers at Media Matters, complained. Here is one of the comments on that site:... continue reading »

Dead Children Make Bad Laws
Many are outraged that a jury found Casey Anthony "not guilty". An online petition has already gathered 650,000 signatures calling for a new law - "Caylee's Law" - that would make it a criminal offense to fail to report one's own missing or dead child to law enforcement within 24 hours (as Anthony failed to do.)... continue reading »

Independence From Government
Political "Independents" are becoming more powerful in American politics.
As I note in my syndicated column this week, Reason editors Nick Gillespie and Matt Welch have a new book out in which they argue that we need independence not just in politics but from politics... continue reading »

Nevada Legalizes Self-Driving Cars
I reported earlier this year about a cool new technology: cars that drive themselves. Google already designed one, and it drove more than a thousand miles on public roads using just a computer chip and a sensor to detect other cars. It only crashed once, and in that case it was rear-ended while it was stopped at a red light.

Class Warfare
In his speech yesterday, Obama brought up income inequality to justify higher taxes on the rich.
In the last decade, the average income of the bottom 90% of all working Americans actually declined. The top 1% saw their income rise by an average of more than a quarter of a million dollars each. And that’s who needs to pay less taxes? ... continue reading »

$38 Billion in Cuts? Not Even
Today’s Wall Street Journal says that the $38 BILLION in cuts that were agreed upon last week to keep the government from shutting down were actually more like $20 BILLION …once you account for some accounting scams.
That’s nearly 50% in accounting scams.
Nowhere in the private sector would we accept that kind of chicanery... continue reading »

Three Cheers for Budget Cuts
I got excited this week when I heard about Congressman Ryan’s “Roadmap to Prosperity.” $6 Trillion in cuts! Finally, Congress might address entitlement spending, and eventually get the budget balanced. His plan even got the liberal journalists at the NY Times to acknowledge that the current system is unsustainable... continue reading »

Joe Biden Railroad
It's amazing how modern politics resembles scenes of Ayn Rand's best-seller Atlas Shrugged. Like the one in which a high-ranking government official pumps millions of dollars into a failing railroad company. The grateful railroad CEO rewards the government official by renovating his hometown train station and naming it after the government official. The renovation costs $5,700,000 more than expected. Then comes the ribbon cutting ceremony... continue reading »
