Fueling Lawsuit Abuse
Lawyers say they help the "little guy." Sometimes they do. But they also create their own victims. The newest casualty is Blitz USA -- the nation's largest producer of consumer gas cans... continue reading »

Lawsuit Abuse (Airs Saturday at 3pm and 10pm on FBN)
I was beat up by a WWF wrestler, Dave Schultz. I had ear pain after he hit me, so I sued. But a doctor told me that I had a "jurosomatic" illness - I held onto pain because I was involved in a lawsuit. Is that possible?
I'll ask Senator John Barrasso, an orthopedic surgeon.
Our other guests will explain how some attorneys exploit our legal system... continue reading »

Money Trials (my show on LAWYERS airs on the Fox News Channel, Saturday @3PM and Sunday @10PM and 1AM ET)
What's with this endless Casey Anthony trial? It's gone on now for a month. The media obsession with cases like this is called "missing white girl syndrome." If you are white, young and pretty--think Natalee Holloway, Laci Peterson, Elizabeth Smart, and now Caylee Anthony--shallow media will give your trial lots of coverage. It's one reason why I left 20/20... continue reading »

Merck Responds to Lanier's Comments on "Lawyers Win, You Lose?" (Airs Tonight @ 10pm ET)
On last night's Fox Business show (airs again tonight at 10pm ET, Saturday at 9 pm & 12 midnight, and Sunday at 10 pm), I gave trial lawyer Mark Lanier a hard time about the consequences of some of his many lawsuits. For example, Lanier secured a $4.8 Billion settlement with Merck over its arthritis drug Vioxx, which the company had pulled from the market voluntarily over concerns it might increase the risk of heart attacks...but the FDA said the drug's benefits outweighed the risks and should be available to consumers... continue reading »

Tonight's Show: Lawyers Win, You Lose? (FBN @ 9pm ET)
Tonight on Fox Business at 9pm ET, I'm surrounded by ... Lawyers. (This FBN show is separate from my Fox News special, "The Battle for the Future" which airs Saturday at 9pm ET.) Lawyers should act as a “free market check” on illegal activities. Often government doesn’t do that well. Government is clumsy and bureaucrats get corrupted and do favors for the politically connected. In theory, lawyers are a supplement to Adam Smith's invisible hand... continue reading »

Kagan’s Exception to the First Amendment
On my show this week, which re-airs tonight at 10pm EST, and again over the weekend, I cover the threats to freedom that are hard to notice. The Bill of Rights is a wonderful thing because it declares what government may NOT do... continue reading »

Victory for Louisiana Florists
One of my FBN shows covered the idiotic licensing rules that states impose on business, particularly those that protect established business from upstart competition.
"hy do so many occupations need a license? Requiring permission from the state to do everything from flower arranging to practicing law paralyzes competition and protects entrenched special interests..."... continue reading »

Tonight's Show: The Trouble With Lawyers (FBN @ 9pm & midnight ET)
Personal injury lawyers say they’re protecting the little guy, but they keep up to 40% of what they win. Every product you buy has a built in cost to cover what lawyers take. On tonight’s show (FBN @ 9pm & midnight ET), I’ll feature videos from The US Chamber Institute for Legal Reform, an affiliate of the Chamber of Commerce, which tell the stories of small businesses harassed and sometimes run out of business by dubious lawsuits... continue reading »

This Week's Show: Parasitic Tort Lawyers
This week on my Fox Business program (Thursday @ 9pm ET), I'll talk about the evil that tort lawyers do. It's no secret that I'm not a fan of the personal injury. Once my kid asked me, “Daddy, how can you hate lawyers? All your, like, friends are lawyers!” He had a point. I live in New York City. You can’t make a move without bumping into a lawyer. Anyway, I don’t hate all lawyers. As I write in my syndicated column this week, we need lawyers... continue reading »
