Rumble in the States (Airs Sunday 10PM ET on FNC)
Each state has different rules, regulations and taxes. It's confusing... but it's also a good thing. It creates competition. When one state does something stupid... people can leave that state and take their talent and money with them... continue reading »

Train Wreck Ahead
If you think paying for healthcare is complex now, wait 'til next year. In this week's syndicated column, I discuss Obamacare and our already over-regulated healthcare system.
Our old health care system was already a bureaucratic and regulatory nightmare. It had 16,000 different codes for different ailments. Under our new, "improved" system, there will be more than a 100,000... continue reading »

A Post Office World
When a business is inefficient or too expensive-- it fails. But not the post office. This week in my syndicated column, I look at why private businesses could run it better.
Reality is at odds with the proud claim on the post office's website that "Since Ben Franklin ... the Postal Service has grown and changed with America." But it's barely changed. You don't tend to see change in "quasi-governmental entities." You see stagnation... continue reading »

Imperial Washington
Our government is supposed to be a government of the people, by the people...but when I look at Washington, D.C., I see a government of elites. Rules are made by the elites, for the elites. It's one reason why seven of America's ten richest counties now surround D.C. In this week's syndicated column, I look at Imperial Washington... continue reading »

What a Wonderful World (Tonight at 9PM on FBN)
The media tell us life gets worse. As usual, they miss the big picture.
This is a wonderful world, and it's getting better. We live longer:

Laws for Lobbyists
Today 16 Democrats who voted for Obamacare suddenly decided that they don't like the new 2.3% tax on medical devices is scheduled to take effect Jan 1.
Good! They're hypocrites, but at least they've finally figured out that taxes kill good things. Minnesota Senator Al Franken calls it a "job-killing tax." No kidding.

Government Crushes Innovative Online Prediction Market
Today, Americans were told that they must close their Intrade.com accounts. That happened because the federal government agency known as the "Commodity Futures Trading Commission" (CFTC) today sued the prediction market, where people from all over the world bet about things like who will win elections.

How TSA Kills People
There are plenty of news stories this Thanksgiving about TSA incompetence. But having to deal with lines, groping, and rude agents may not be the worst thing about the TSA. The worst thing may be that, to avoid the TSA, some people drive instead of fly - and that is far more likely to get them killed... continue reading »

FEMA's $300 Hotel Rooms
On the O'Reilly Factor tonight, Bill wanted to talk about problems with the Red Cross relief efforts after hurricane Sandy. Sure, the Red Cross is now a big bureaucracy, and it's made mistakes, but it's still much more effective than government... continue reading »

You Paid for Lady Gaga
In 1951, the federal government created the emergency broadcast system, CONELRAD, to warn us in the event of a nuclear attack by the Soviet Union.
It made me feel safer. However, I was only 4.
The FEMA website says the Emergency Warning System "is designed for the President to speak to the American People within 10 minutes."
Such government action almost always seems right. In times of threat, we want "leaders" to tell us what to do... continue reading »
