Celebrate Race Relations? (FNC @ 9pm ET Sat & Sun)
On my first Fox News Special, What’s Great About America, which airs this weekend, I argue that one of the things we should celebrate about America is American race relations. Yes, America has a history of slavery, then Jim Crow, then segregation and today, there’s still some racial hatred. But for a country that one generation ago had a presidential candidate (George Wallace) declaring “segregation forever”, race relations in this country are remarkably good... continue reading »

Entrepreneurship Helps Make America Great (FNC @ 9pm ET Sat & Sun)
For all its problems, America is a great place. And one thing that makes America great is its prosperity. Yes, some people have suffered during the recession, but compared to all the other countries in the history of the world, America is rich. Why? One reason is that America is a good place to do business... continue reading »

O'Reilly Tonight: Let More People In!
Tonight on the Factor, O’Reilly wants to talk about what libertarians say about illegal immigration. I plan to tell him: libertarians believe that trade is good. Trade in goods, ideas… and labor, too. In other words, open the borders, let people in. Oops. Today this is a tricky issue. America is a welfare state. You cannot have open borders and a welfare state. People would come here to freeload. Also, we cannot have open borders when some people want to murder us. So we should secure the border... continue reading »

What's Great About America: Free Speech
My first Fox News Channel special, titled "What's Great About America", airs this Fourth of July Weekend (Saturday and Sunday) on Fox News at 9pm Eastern Time. What is great about America? For one: We can say just about anything, thanks to the First Amendment. It reads: "Congress shall make no law... abridging freedom of speech." That makes a difference... continue reading »

What's Great About the Military (FNC @ 9pm ET Sat & Sun)
President Obama replaced Gen. Stanley McChrystal for insubordination after he made disparaging remarks during an interview with Rolling Stone. For an institution that often gets called “imperialist” or worse, it says something about the American military when its highest officers respectfully accept rebuke from civilian authority... continue reading »

The Power of Glenn Beck
Guess what the number #1 book on Amazon is. Frederick Hayek’s Road to Serfdom! Unfortunately, this doesn’t demonstrate a new national surge of interest in Austrian economics. It mainly demonstrates the power of Glenn Beck and his unusually successful 5pm Fox News TV show. Beck devoted his show yesterday to Road to Serfdom, interviewed an articulate speaker from the Mises Institute, and the surge of sales on Amazon is the happy result.

Reaction to Road to Serfdom
Here are a couple viewer comments on Thursday's Road to Serfdom, which re-airs Saturday at 7pm & 11pm ET and Sunday at 8pm ET. David Jon Hauschild wrote:
Hate to say it, but we’re too far down the road to turn back and change things up.
Jefferson wrote:Only one politician has been consistent throughout his career in reading, citing and believing in what Hayek said. This man is Ron Paul. And he does not get on the show while others who supported TARP do??... continue reading »

O'Reilly Tonight: The Oil Spill
On O’Reilly tonight, Bill says he will ask me what libertarians think government should do about the BP oil spill and offshore drilling. I say: nothing. Or rather, do less. President Obama claimed the accident shows that the world is running out of oil... continue reading »
