War Against the Little Guy (Sunday at 10PM ET on FNC)
Government is at war against the little guy. Bureaucrats pass thousands of pages of regulations every year to "keep people safer" and "make the marketplace more fair." Today there are 170,000 pages of federal regulations on the books. Break just one rule, and government may wreck your life... continue reading »

Government's Bogus Study on Chinatown Busses
The nation's fastest growing mass transit - intercity busses - was pioneered by Chinese immigrant entrepreneurs, who figured out that by doing without a station and picking people up from the street, they could save money and offer cheap fares. Their services became known as "Chinatown busses."
Then the government cracked down on those entrepreneurs. Regulators forced 27 bus companies based in Chinatown to close, according to Jim Epstein of Reason... continue reading »

Illegal Jobs (Airs this Sunday at 5am & 3pm ET on FNC)
When I tried to open a lemonade stand outside my Fox office, I learned about the piles of regulations that make it so tough for new businesses to get off the ground. But it's not just burdensome paperwork. Some entrepreneurs are charged with crimes, simply for trying to be entrepreneurs.
Tonight, we'll be joined by small business owners who get squeezed.

Blocking the Paths Out of Poverty
Government crushes the American dream. Bureaucrats keep passing new rules that make it harder to climb the ladders of success.
In my syndicated column this week, I look at how some cities smother street vendors:
The city of Atlanta, for example, has turned all street vending over to a monopoly contractor. In feudalist fashion, all existing vendors were told they must work for the monopoly or not vend at all... continue reading »

The All-Powerful Politician
Forbes just released a new ranking of the "World's Most Powerful People". President Obama tops the list, followed by three other prominent politicians: Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Hu Jintao and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The first entrepreneur, Bill Gates, is ranked fifth.
These world leaders do wield a great amount of power. They can use force... continue reading »

Makers vs. Takers
Tax Day approaches. It’s the one day of the year when we most feel the intrusiveness of government. They take from us…but to do they make anything? Who really makes the nation prosperous? Government…or entrepreneurs?... continue reading »

Freeloading Doesn't Help the Freeloaders
No group has been more "helped" by the American government than American Indians. Yet no group in America does worse.
Almost a quarter of Native Americans live in poverty. 66 percent are born to single mothers. They have short life spans. Indian activists say the solution is -surprise- more money from the government. But Washington already spends about $13 billion on programs for Indians every year... continue reading »

Let Markets Civilize Airport Security
The government says it may fine one young man $11,000 for leaving the airport without “permission.” He didn’t want to be scanned by the invasive new scanners, and he didn’t want the TSA touching his “junk.” When they’re not touching your junk, the TSA makes children cry. Now Bill O’Reilly demands that I provide my “solution,” or endorse his. I admit, I don’t know the best solution... continue reading »

Crushing Entrepreneurs
Clueless regulators continue to pass new rules, despite the damage done by mindless enforcement of the old ones. I’ve written about the seven-year-old who tried to open a lemonade stand in California. Now two middle schoolers in New Castle, NY have gotten in trouble because they held a bake sale at the country fair... continue reading »
