End Ethanol Now
The time to end the government powered ethanol subsidy has come… and gone… multiple times. It’s an expensive waste of money, and a GAO report confirms that if it is left unchanged, the
… annual cost to the Treasury in forgone revenues could grow from $5.4 billion in 2010 to $6.75 billion in 2015... continue reading »

A Good Sign
I thank the Weekly Standard’s Fred Barnes for pointing out some good news that I’d missed. The new Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee recently said this to members of his committee:
We are in the middle of the largest fiscal crisis the country has ever faced... No one seriously thinks that we can continue on our current path of recklessness. And that path ends right here... ... continue reading »

Oil Drilling Bans Harm the Earth? (Saturday at 9pm & midnight ET)
Last March, President Obama said something smart: "Today we're announcing the expansion of offshore oil and gas exploration." The decision would have opened up drilling along the coast from Florida to Delaware. But then the BP oil rig blew up, causing a new push to ban offshore oil drilling. The White House declared such a ban – but a court threw it out as too broad. This doesn’t mean that drilling resumed... continue reading »

Never Let a Crisis Go to Waste
Louisiana residents have been hit hard. In his first Oval Office address, Obama refers to the aftermath of the recent explosion aboard the Deepwater Horizon offshore rig as “the worst environmental disaster America has ever faced.” Still, the “man-made disaster” that Washington bureaucrats have inflicted in its aftermath may prove more damaging to the economy. At the end of his spe... continue reading »

Rule of Law: Out the Window
BP should have to pay for the damage they did in the gulf, as determined by the laws on the books. But President Obama wants to change the law. He wants to retroactively raise that $75 liability cap. That’s just wrong. I want BP liable, but we still have to respect the rule of law. It’s not fair to increase penalties retroactively... continue reading »

Obama Regulation
Speaking in Pittsburgh this week, President Obama said:
“To be fair, a good deal of the other party's opposition to our agenda has also been rooted in their sincere and fundamental belief about the role of government," Mr. Obama said. "It's a belief that government has little or no role to play in helping this nation meet our collective challenges."... continue reading »
