    • Class Warfare

In his speech yesterday, Obama brought up income inequality to justify higher taxes on the rich.

In the last decade, the average income of the bottom 90% of all working Americans actually declined. The top 1% saw their income rise by an average of more than a quarter of a million dollars each. And that’s who needs to pay less taxes? ... continue reading »

    • Stupid Rules

On my FBN show this week, we cover entrepreneurs, like the ones who created Intel, Genentech, Apple, Cisco, Microsoft. They created vast wealth and, of course, cool things. Is it coincidence that all that creation happened in San Francisco and Seattle, the two metropolitan areas farthest from Washington DC? I doubt it. Sadly, those company now spend millions on lobbying—millions that would be better spent on inventing.

We’d be better off if we just had fewer rules... continue reading »

    • Clueless Media

The economic illiteracy of my colleagues continues to baffle me. Or maybe it’s just intellectual laziness.

This weekend, the Washington Post ran this headline:

      "BIGGEST CUTS IN U.S. HISTORY."

The Los Angeles Times agreed, saying the politicians were:

      "SLASHING GOVERNMENT."

President Obama also called it: “The largest annual spending cut in our history.”... continue reading »

    • The Party of No

Liberal pundits called Republicans the “party of no” for their opposition to Obamacare, Cap and Trade, etc.  I think it's good to say “no” to bad ideas.   Congressman Ron Paul has been right to make a career of that.  I wish Republicans supported him years ago. Now that Obama’s fiscal commission has come up with some reasonably good ideas, Ross Douthat points out that the Dems have become the “Party of No," even to the point of defending corporate welfare:

    • Cut More Spending!

A draft from the Congressional Deficit Commission that Obama appointed came out today, and it actually has a lot to like. For instance:

-- Raising the retirement age to 68 would be implemented by 2050 and then would increase again to 69 by 2075…

-- reducing the base rate on corporate taxes…

-- reducing foreign aid by $4.6 billion…... continue reading »

    • Are Union Thugs Bankrupting America?

This Friday at 10pm, Fox News will broadcast my heated argument with NYC Transit Worker’s Union President John Samuelsen.  It’s part of my special, “The Battle for the Future.” Samuelsen, of course, argues that its ridiculous for me to say that “union thugs are bankrupting America.”   We also have a confrontational exchange about sick days.  I said:  “One fourth of your workers took more than 15 sick days. In the private sector, they wouldn’t last long doing that.” He responded, “About 25% of our work force are women... continue reading »
