The Sequester Wasn't Even A Cut!
Those terrifying sequester cuts sure haven't crippled America. This week in my syndicated column, I point out that if you look at all government spending, the sequester wasn't even a cut.
That may surprise you, since President Obama likened the sequester to taking a "meat cleaver" to government, causing FBI agents to be furloughed, prosecutors to let criminals escape and medical research to grind to a halt!... continue reading »

The Debt Bomb (Airs TONIGHT at 9pm ET on Fox Business)
President Obama says the sequester is like taking "a meat cleaver to the budget."
I wish that were true. This week, I grab a meat cleaver and point out what ought to be cut.
Despite the big spenders' hysteria about "long TSA lines, no meat inspection, abandoned children!", the sequester doesn't even cut the budget! It just slows it's growth... continue reading »

Obama, Part II (airs Saturday at 3pm ET on FNC)
President Obama told John Boehner that America does not have a spending problem. But we do!
I was astonished to learn that in 2006, when George W. Bush was President, then-Senator Obama was actually upset about our national debt. From the Congressional Record:
I rise today to talk about America's debt problem... Our federal debt has increased by $3.5 trillion to $8.6 trillion. That is ‘trillion' with a ‘T'...It took 42 Presidents 224 years to run up only $1 trillion of foreign-held debt. This administration did more than that in just 5 years... continue reading »

Budget Insanity
In my syndicated column this week, I point out that even politicians who campaign on reducing government won't cut bad programs.
Even the new "fiscally responsible" Republicans vote against cutting Energy Department handouts to companies like Solyndra and subsidies to sugar producers. Many claim that any cut in military spending will weaken America and increase unemployment... continue reading »

Dangerous Debt
I've written before about our exploding national debt. But all the trillions and billions can be hard to comprehend. It's why this image from a chain e-mail has gone viral:... continue reading »

Ten Years to Greece
A member of the European Parliament, Daniel Hannan, worries about what he calls "The New Road To Serfdom." He says Europe is imploding, and it should be a warning to America.
I interviewed him for my FBN show. And expand on his argument in my syndicated column this week:... continue reading »

Crying wolf over military spending "cuts"
The Deficit Supercommittee will probably not reach an agreement by its Wednesday deadline - and the result might be 1.2 trillion in "automatic cuts" over the next 10 years. $600 billion of that would come out of the defense budget.
Politicians howl about that.
"We cannot put America's safety in jeopardy by virtue of the failure of this committee," Romney said... continue reading »

A Budget Deal?
The media tell us the best chance for a deficit-cutting deal that might be supported by both Congress and President Obama is something close to what's been proposed by the so-called "Gang of Six" senators. They claim their plan would reduce deficits by $3.7 trillion over 10 years.
But Cato's Chris Edwards points out, "The Gang outline has a few specific cuts, but the document mainly consists of promises to restrain spending and raise taxes in the future."... continue reading »
