• Turn Up the Heat

Death tolls in Europe continue to climb. As of today, hundreds have perished at the hands of "extreme cold and heavy snow." Hundreds more have been hospitalized.

      It's a tragedy.

And it makes me wonder: do the global warming protestors ever think about the damage that cold does?

Bjørn Lomborg, director of the Copenhagen Consensus Center and author of Cool It, points out that cold waves kill many more people than heat:

The old, infirm, homeless and very young are at the highest risk of hypothermia, heart attacks, strokes and illnesses caused or exacerbated by the cold....Winter regularly takes many more lives than any heatwave: 25,000 to 50,000 people each year die in Britain from excess cold. Across Europe, there are six times more cold-related deaths than heat-related deaths.

It's true. And not just in Europe. It's true in America, and in the rest of the world, too.

Next week Bjørn appears on STOSSEL on FBN Thursday at 10pm. We'll discuss the truth about global warming and how we should (or shouldn't) react.
