Was 2011 good or bad for freedom?

To answer that question, I've booked an all-star libertarian panel:

David Boaz from the Cato Institute, Harvard economics professor Jeffrey Miron, Reason Magazine managing editor Katherine Mangu-Ward and Kmele Foster, chairman of the America's Future Foundation, will take on the economy, wars, and protests that happened overseas and here.

When I went to visit the OWS protest in NYC, I quickly learned that the "occupiers" didn't like me. What did the protest mean, or achieve? The panel will analyze.

Also, former MTV stars Kennedy and Kurt Loder, the author of a new book on 21st-century movie reviews, dissect the year's culture. We finally got a new take on Ayn Rand's novel in the long-awaited release of the Atlas Shrugged movie. We also got a new "food insecure" Sesame Street muppet.

Tune in tonight for my libertarian year in review, just days before the countdown to 2012.

    This Week's Show -- May 24, 2012

People complain about income inequality and poverty.

But what does poverty mean in America?

The truth is, most poor people have cars, air conditioning, modern electronics-things even kings didn't have decades ago.

Stossel went to a food kitchen in Harlem, and asked people standing in line if they had TVs and cell phones. One man said "of course".

On this week's show, Stossel argues that wealth disparity isn't bad, because life is better when people are free. The rich get richer, and the poor get... richer.

In fact, the poorest fifth of Americans are now 20% richer than they were when Stossel was in college (and yes, that's adjusted for inflation).

Finally, Stossel shows how our exploding debt and ever growing entitlements rip off future generations, and force them to pay for benefits for boomers like John. To prove his point, Stossel "steals" toys from some toddlers
