A new video has been released by a group called Live Action, showing a Planned Parenthood nurse telling someone whom she thought was a pimp running a child prostitution ring:
“If they’re 14 and under [circles clinic paper] just send them right there if they need an abortion, ok? [laughter]”
The video is disturbing for many reasons.
It’s a creepy invasion of privacy. I once got a tip that some abortion clinics were so greedy, they’d tell women who were not pregnant that they were, and give them fake abortions. My assistant took my urine to 6 clinics. Two said I was pregnant. We taped the encounter. It was great TV. I won Emmy awards for it. But I only used audio tape, and now I have second thoughts about the ethics of that. This Live Action sting is video, and posted on the internet. The woman seems to be in a private office, where she has an expectation of privacy. Her intimate comments about people she “hates” and other ugly statements are now on the internet. Maybe she was just playing along with the “pimp”, trying to get the 14-year-old girls to come in, so she could then help them, and go to the police. Priests, doctors, and lawyers demand privacy “privilege” so that people will feel free to speak truthfully. When doctors play cop, some people will not get health care.
On the other hand, this nurse appears to be totally indifferent to the immorality of the pimp promoting a business with 14 year old sex workers who don’t speak English and might be trapped in prostitution. Planned Parenthood issued a statement saying:
What appears on edited tapes made public today is not consistent with Planned Parenthood’s practices, and is under review… ‘the behavior of our employee, as portrayed on the video, if accurate, violates … our core values of protecting the welfare of minors and complying with the law, and appropriate action is being taken.”
Planned Parenthood says it notified the FBI about the “pimp”. But it’s not clear when. It may have been only after they realized they’d been “stung.”
The video provides one more reason why groups like Planned Parenthood should not get government funds. They get a lot—more than 300 million dollars a year. Yet half the country considers abortion to be murder. This means half the country is forced to pay for what they consider murder. That’s evil.
Planned parenthood would survive without government funds. The pro-choice movement is funded by billionaires. Let them pay for poor people’s abortions.
None of these groups or activities should get government funds:Planned Parenthood (about $300 million a year.)
National Endowment of Arts ($167 million) Christians had to pay for “government art” like “Piss Christ,” a photograph of a crucifix immersed in urine.Stem cell research ($54 million/year, but on hold due to a legal challenge.) If you believe that life begins at conception, some stem cell research is murder. It shouldn’t be banned, but let the private sector fund it. Teaching creationism ($100k earmark was awarded to Louisiana creationist group to make recommendations about science education.) ACORN (used to get $3 million a year)
