NEIL CAVUTO, HOST: You know, even give them time and have, they say not worth the time. It started with Target. Now Best Buy workers getting worked up over the talk they might have to work Thanksgiving. Stores starting Black Friday at Midnight, and that is ruining Rick Melargagni's entire night. Not a fan of this, huh, bud? RICK MELARAGNI, BEST BUY EMPLOYEE: No, not so much. CAVUTO: What have you said or done? Have they ask you to work yet? MELARAGNI: I will be working. Originally, I was supposed to work the midnight shift, the opening of the store. I found out today that that is changed to 7:00 a.m. I don't know if that is a response to the petition I created on Change.org, or as I was told today, it has nothing to do with that. It has been like that. So I'm not sure if it's in response or not. CAVUTO: So you were originally supposed to come in at midnight. They wanted you to come in earlier or what? MELARAGNI: No. They want me to come in Friday. CAVUTO: I apologize. So is it your deal? I mean, stores a been trending this for years. Either Midnight on Thanksgiving to get the holiday shopping season going. Now 10:00 pm, 9:00 pm, depending on the retailer, Midnight again in Best Buy's case. That is your business. What do you say? That is your business. If you don't like it, work in another field. MELARAGNI: And I can understand biting the hand that feeds you point of view. But it is a national holiday. We have it to spend time with our families, to rejoice of what we do have. And I'm happy to have a job. And I respect Best Buy and I respect all the other retailers. They're doing this in response to competition. They have to respond to their stockholders. And this is a decision they have made. CAVUTO: A lot of people that work that day -- hospital workers, nurses, you know, law authorities and the rest. It is what it is. If that is a big issue to you -- and I can understand. You raise a valid point -- then work in another field, try to find another field. MELARAGNI: Yes, for those medical personnel and law enforcement officers, we can't deal without them. We need them. And we fully respect them. We are retail workers, at the end of the day. Not only are we doing this to our employees. The customers have to miss out on their Thanksgiving festivities as well. CAVUTO: There are people who would go through barbwire to you store if it's open, my wife among them, by the way. So there are people who feel they need to go to you. And you might be, you know, not happy about it, but our economy sure needs it. Would do you say? MELARAGNI: What is the difference between 5:00 a.m. and midnight. Why, besides to satisfy stockholders? CAVUTO: I would never shop, period. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Well, actually a couple of them. My point is I agree with you on that count. But nevertheless, there are people who get jazzed by this sort of thing. It is what is. MELARAGNI: Yes. There are people who are excited. There's people who get excited about all sorts of weird stuff. But the vast majority of people I have spoken to aren't too happy about this, employees and customers alike. CAVUTO: I admire your guts for speaking up. You're still an employee. I admire that as well. So keep it up. We will see what happens. Thank you very much.
