Pier 1 Imports Recalls Temani Wicker Furniture Due To Violation Of Lead Paint Standards

Pier 1 Imports Inc. is recalling Temani wicker furniture, because of a violation of federal standards on lead paint, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Tuesday. The Temani collection includes a char, settee and ottoman, that are ivory colored and made of rattan wicker. About 2,500 units were sold in the U.S. between March 2014 and April 2017. Another 75 units were sold in Canada. The collection was made in Indonesia. No incidents or injuries have been reported, but the company is urging customers to return the furniture to its stores for a full refund. Pier 1 shares were down 1.1% Tuesday, and are down 38% in 2017, while the S&P 500 has gained 7%.
