Skyworks Solutions Inc. said Thursday that its longtime chief executive has vacated that role to become executive chairman, with the company's president taking the reins. David Aldrich, who has been CEO of the chipmaker since 2000, is being replaced by Liam Griffin, who originally joined Skyworks in 2001 as head of sales and marketing and has held many roles since. In a statement Thursday, Aldrich called Griffin "my logical successor" and described him as a "highly energetic and motivating leader." "I assume this new leadership role deeply humbled yet highly confident in Skyworks' future," Griffin said in the announcement.
