Honda resumes normal production in Ohio after shift cuts related to West Coast port dispute

Honda says it will temporarily resume normal production at its Ohio plants after six days of shift reductions related to a West Coast port contract dispute.

The Columbus Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/1w4EGg8 ) the automaker announced Thursday that while it's still experiencing parts shortages at some plants, it has enough parts to operate normally in Ohio.

The company says normal Ohio production will begin Tuesday and go until March 2, when production cuts could be possible.

Ongoing negotiations between West Coast dockworkers and their employers to reach a new contract have been deadlocked in recent weeks, leaving billions of dollars in cargo on ships unable to dock.

Honda is relying on air shipments for some needed parts as the dispute continues.

The automaker employees more than 14,000 workers at plants across Ohio.
