AT&T Inc. vs. Verizon Communications Inc. -- Which Wireless Carrier Ruled the Quarter?

The top two wireless carriers in the nationreceived both a mix of good and bad results for the last quarter of 2014. AT&T managed to increase postpaid net additions by 854,000, while Verizon Communications topped that with about 2 million postpaid net adds. Meanwhile, Verizon was able to boost its average revenue per account, or ARPA, by 3.5% year-over-year, while AT&T saw an approximate 4.1% decline.

As for earnings, Verizon delivered an adjusted earnings per share of $0.71, and AT&T brought in $0.55. But both companies saw wireless margins fall. Verizon's fell to 23.5%, down from 29.5% in the year-ago quarter, and AT&T fell to 16.3% from 21.4% a year earlier.
