The New York-based company said it had a loss of 5 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 3 cents per share.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 5 cents per share.
The beauty products company posted revenue of $1.04 billion in the period, also missing Street forecasts. Analysts expected $1.06 billion, according to Zacks.
Coty shares have climbed 18 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 13 percent in the last 12 months.
